Norcross Man Indicted in Massive Ecstasy Bust

When officials were investigating a customs official, they were led to $2.8 million in ecstasy.

Jerome Bushay of Norcross was indicted yesterday as part of one of the largest ecstasy seizures in U.S. history, according to Department of Justice officials.

Β The 32-year-old, who also goes by the name Romey, was charged with conspiracy to traffic MDMA, or ecstasy, and marijuana. A federal grand jury unsealed the indictment Thursday, Dec. 16, identifiying the Norcross man as part of the bust.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution identified Bushay as the alleged leader of the operation in an article.

A customs official at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport was arrested and charged with taking bribes that allowed drugs and guns to flow through the airport, the United States Attorney General Sally Quillian Yates announced at a news conference yesterday.

As the case unraveled, officials were led to a house in Chamblee and other homes, where they seized $2.8 million worth of ecstasy, according to a news release. The operation, which officials call Rude Beast, was carried out by federal, state and local officials.ο»ΏΒ
