Norcross-Area Business Burglaries: Smashing Doors, Stealing Cash From Massage Chairs

At least a handful of businesses in the Norcross area reported burglaries during the month of December.

According to police reports, two of the incidents were attempted thefts with nothing reported stolen, and the other burglaries involved taking money from electric massage chairs at laundromats.

The laundromat incidents took place within days and street blocks of one another. One of the burglaries occurred around 12:33 a.m. Dec. 17 at No. 1 Coin Laundry, located at 6000 Singleton Rd. in unincorporated Norcross. Surveillance footage shows a rock shattering the door and two men entering the business.

They attempted to open the cash register and an office inside the laundromat, but did not succeed. They were able to pry open two boxes of cash from vending massage chairs, though.

The owner of the chairs told Gwinnett police the cash was taken from a few of his other chairs in another burglary just days ago at Spin Cycle on South Norcross Tucker Road and Graves Road.

Another chair owner reported the same thing in a third incident, which occurred at 12:55 a.m. Dec. 19 at Coin Laundry, located at 6083 S. Norcross Tucker Rd.

In the attempted burglaries, one took place during the late hours of Dec. 15 and the other on Dec. 28. On the earlier incident, Gwinnett Police reported that the Norcross Food Mart at 6131 S. Norcross Tucker Rd. had the front door smashed open, but not enough for anyone to enter. Police believe it was broken by a large rock found near the door.

Surveillance footage shows two men repeatedly coming back and forth to the business from 1:48 a.m. to 2 a.m. After attempting to break the door twice, the suspects fled.

The burglary attempt was the third incident at the business in three months, an employee told police. In one of the earlier cases, footage showed two similar-looking men making entry into the store through broken glass in the front.

The other attempted burglary took place at the Chevron at 2394 Beaver Ruin Rd. in the city. Norcross Police reported broken glass at the door, which was possibly smashed using a large brick found on the floor of the business.

The employee told police that no money appeared to be missing, but he was unsure about the inventory.

Footage from the Norcross Food Mart burglary showed two black male suspects. One of them wore red shorts and a dark-colored hoodie, and the other man wore black pants a light-colored hoodie.

Two suspects appeared in the laundromat surveillance tape, too. Both were black males who were between 5'9" and 6' tall, had slim builds, no facial hair and appeared to be between 18 to 21 years old. One of the suspects wore a black Hollister hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes, glasses, a silver wrist watch, and red underwear or shorts. The other suspect wore a a red and black plaid shirt, khakis, black shoes, and a black hat with white on the front, back and side.
