No Injuries in Truck-Train Accident in Norcross

The accident happened before noon as a southbound train struck a tractor-trailer hauling six vehicles that was stuck on the track.

A truck-train collision on the train tracks on Holcomb Bridge Road at Thrasher Street closed three rail crossings for a time Tuesday in downtown Norcross, but no injuries were reported, according to Norcross Police spokesman Capt. Brian Harr.

The accident happened before noon as a southbound train struck a tractor-trailer hauling six vehicles that was stuck on the track.

All crossings were re-opened by late afternoon.

The emailed press release from Capt. Harr:

Norcross, GA – On Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at approximately 11:23 a.m., Norcross Police received a report of a truck and trailer stuck on the train tracks on Holcomb Bridge Road at Thrasher Street in downtown Norcross.

Upon arrival, officers immediately notified railroad authorities. However, a South bound train was unable to come to a stop in time and struck the truck. No injuries were reported.

The truck was hauling six (6) vehicles and is registered to LOMZA Express out of Florida.

Due to the damage to the locomotive and potential damage to the crossings and tracks, the following crossings will remain closed until further notice:

Holcomb Bridge Road at Thrasher Street, Park Street at Thrasher Street, and Autry Street at Thrasher Street.
