A Norcross man told police that someone put a knife to his neck and not only made demands for money, but threatened him into stealing items from Walmart.
According to the Norcross police report, the incident occurred around 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. Aug. 1 while the complainant was walking home from a on the corner of Buford Highway and Beaver Ruin Road.
He was accosted by a subject who had been hiding in a thick brush on Buford Highway, the Norcross resident told police. The other man approached him from the rear, forced him into the wooded area and put a knife to his neck.
The suspect allegedly made demands for money. The complainant said he didn't have money, but the suspect kept demanding, especially since he saw him go to and from the store. If he didn't give him $500, said the suspect, he was going to kill him.
The victim also told police that the suspect wanted him to go to Walmart and "steal some stuff" for him. He already had tried stealing items at Walmart, he told police, but he was caught, so now he's awaiting a future court date for the incident.
The police officer informed the complainant that if he was placed in such fear that he should have called authorities rather than go out to commit the crime, which will not justify his behavior.
The victim described the suspect that he was a dark-skinned black male, approximately 6 feet tall, skinny and around 20 to 29 years old.
