Man Assaults Pregnant Girlfriend

He allegedly cut her neck with a knife and punched her in the face, report says.

A man allegedly cut and repeatedly punched his pregnant girlfriend in the face late one evening this month in unincorporated Norcross.

According to the Gwinnett County police report, the 32-year-old woman approached her boyfriend after he came home from clubbing around 4 a.m. on a Sunday. The man, 21, told her to leave him alone, so she went outside their home at near Harbins Road.

As she walked outside, she told police, her boyfriend grabbed a knife in the kitchen and ran after her.

He allegedly pushed her to the ground and punched her in the face numerous times while the knife was at her neck. Her neck was cut in the process.

Their roommate, 40, intervened after he heard the commotion from his bedroom. He told police that he took the knife away and pulled the boyfriend off the victim, who had blacked out. The witness then called police.

The suspect went back to his bedroom, where police found him sleeping. He told the officer that he was tired of his girlfriend asking him questions when he arrived home that evening.

He kept repeating that he had too much to drink and that he was sorry about his actions, even though he said that he doesn't remember what happened. Alcohol tends to make him act crazy, he said.

The boyfriend was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
