Man Arrested for Alleged Murder-for-Hire on Norcross Man

Joseph Memar, 65, of Duluth, was arrested after police said he wanted to hire a hit man to kill his former business partner.

An informant told Gwinnett County detectives June 26 that he had been contacted by Joseph Memar, 65, of Duluth. Memar wanted the informant to locate a "hit man" to murder his former business partner, Alireza Jebraeilli of Norcross.

The following day, the informant met with Memar while under surveillance by Gwinnett County Police officers. Memar gave the informant $1,500 with an additional $1,500 being promised upon the completion of the crime.

On June 28, the informant showed a doctored photo of Jebraeilli as "proof" to Memar that the killing had been done. Memar thanked the informant and concluded the meeting with a promise to meet the next day to pay the informant. At this point, GCPD detectives arrested Memar.
