Inside the Police Reports: Man Asking for Beer Money Gets Arrested

He also was wanted for ditching a court date for an offense in Lawrenceville.

Gwinnett County Police told a Norcross man he could not hang out in front of the Kroger store on Grayson Highway and ask for beer money.

But it was an outstanding warranted that sent him to jail.

The man was wanted for failing to appear in court on an arrest by the Lawrenceville Police Department, according to the Gwinnett PD incident report.

Police arrived at the Kroger on the afternoon of March 10 on a report of the man soliciting money from customers. He has done this before, the store manager said, and would also enter the store to steal beer.

The police officer stopped the man and told him he'd be issued a criminal trespass warning. At one time, a woman came up to the officer and said, "Good. He has been out here all day messing with people and begging for money."

The officer learned the man was wanted for failing to appear, Jerry Neal, 45, of Norcross was arrested and taken to the Gwinnett County jail.
