Heavy Damage, But No Injuries in Norcross Apartment Fire

Early morning fire on Wintergreen Road displaced 12 residents.

An apartment fire near Norcross Saturday morning displaced families from six townhouse units, but caused no injuries.

Gwinnett County firefighters arrived at 5975 Wintergreen Road at 4:21 a.m. to find heavy smoke and fire. This is an area between Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Rockbridge Road in unincorporated Norcross.

The fire was brought under control at 5:25 a.m., according to a media alert from the Gwinnett County Fire Department.

Four of the six units had moderate to heavy damage from fire, water and structural collapse.

Twelve residents were displaced. The Red Cross is assisting.
