Falcons RB Turner Arrested on DUI Charge in Norcross Area

Star player Michael Turner also was charged with speeding on I-85 near Steve Reynolds Boulevard.

Atlanta Falcons starting running back Michael Turner was arrested early Tuesday, Sept. 18, on charges of DUI and speeding in unincorporated Norcross.

According to a Gwinnett County Police press release, 30-year-old Turner, of Suwanee, was observed driving a black Audi "at a high rate of speed' on northbound I-85 near Indian Trail Road.

The traffic stop took place on I-85 near Steve Reynolds Boulevard. He was traveling 97 mph in 65 mph zone, according to police.

A member of the DUI task force made contact, and Turner identified himself as a member of the Atlanta Falcons. The officer could smell "an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the driver," according to the release, and proceeded to conduct a DUI investigation.

During the investigation, the officer developed probable cause to charge Turner with DUI and speeding.

He was booked into the Gwinnett Detention Center shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday. He was released on bond ($2,006 for DUI, $173 for speeding) shortly after 7 a.m., according to the Gwinnett Sheriff's Office.

The GCPD said the entire stop was recorded on police dashcam video, but said it would not be available.

Turner rushed 17 times for 42 yards and one touchdown in the Falcons' 27-21 victory over Denver on Monday night at the Georgia Dome.
