Update: Gwinnett Fire Battalion Chief Injured in Hit and Run

Police are reporting that a vehicle crashed into a Gwinnett Fire truck in the Norcross area Tuesday evening. The driver fled on foot.

Update, 10:30 p.m.

A Gwinnett Fire battalion chief was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries from the collision, according to Fox 5.

The news station added that a search is underway for the runaway driver.

The driver of the vehicle fled on foot, according to a news release from police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith. Two passengers in the suspect's vehicle remained on scene and are being treated by EMS personnel.

The collision occurred at Center Way and Oakbrook Parkway, near Jimmy Carter Boulevard.
