Woman Reports Robbery, Boyfriend Gets Thrown in Jail

Inside the Police Reports: A woman who tried buying a cell phone in Norcross last week ended up getting robbed by the seller, but her boyfriend, who was there during the incident, was the one who got arrested in the end because of a warrant.

A woman who tried buying a cell phone last week at a Norcross hotel ended up getting robbed by the seller, and her boyfriend was thrown in jail.

According to the Norcross Police report, the Atlanta woman, 24, and her boyfriend were in a room at the Garden Plaza Hotel at 6050 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard to meet with a man named "Eddie."

She was supposed to buy a cell phone from "Eddie" for $50. When he arrived around 9:40 p.m., she realized that she only had $20 bills, so she went to get change while he stayed in the room with her boyriend.

She returned to find the seller standing by the room door. When she gave him the $10, he pushed her backwards and attempted to run out of the room. She grabbed his shirt and held onto him, but then he pulled out a pistol and aimed it at her.

She let go of his shirt and he ran away. She decided to run after him and was able to grab his shirt again, but he only pushed her a second time. He then ran out of her sight.

The boyfriend, who was apparently working on his laptop the whole time, told police he didn't see a handgun and only heard a "scuffle" at the front door. Norcross Police discovered that the boyfriend had a warrant for marijuana possession out of Gwinnett County, so he ended up getting arrested.

The manager of the hotel told police that he heard people running in the hall upstairs and saw the suspect and victim fighting.

According to the victim, the suspect is a white man with brown hair and blue eyes. He's about six feet tall and between the ages of 25 to 30. He wore a red shirt, blue jeans and a silver chain around his neck. His handgun was a black revolver.

Another incident involving another armed man attacking a woman was reported at the same hotel last month. The woman told police that a man came to her room and struck her with a handgun, so she started screaming and he ran away.
