Bicyclist Arrested for Being Under Influence

A man on a bicycle was driving erratically and said he was trying to dump marijuana out of his pockets, according to police.

A man on a bicycle was arrested for being a pedestrian under the influence after police observed him traveling across all lanes of traffic one evening.

Around 11:10 p.m. on Nov. 4, a Gwinnett County police officer observed a Norcross man, 29, on a bike with no lights or reflectors on. According to the police report, he was swerving across the roadway on Singleton Road near Turners Ridge Drive in unincorporated Norcross.

The officer noticed the bicyclist almost was struck by a vehicle, and he had a hard time staying on his bike, according to the report. He caught up with the bicyclist and ordered him to stop, but the man didn't comply. He instead looked directly at the officer and kept on riding.

The officer had to spin his vehicle around to pull alongside the bicyclist, who eventually stopped on the sidewalk. The man almost fell off the bike several times, the officer commented in the report, and he was digging in his pants pocket and dropping items on the ground.

The bicyclist told the officer the reason why he didn't stop immediately is because he was getting marijuana out of his pocket, but nothing illegal was found in a search.
