Arrests Made in Norcross Area Homicide

The motive for the October murder of a local man was robbery.

When 38-year-old Rajib Sarkar returned to his Norcross area apartment on Oct. 1, he brought the night deposit money from his business with him. Police now believe that two men targeted Sarkar and tried to rob him after they learned of the sum of cash.Β

On Dec. 12, further investigation led Gwinnett Police to the arrest of 21-year-old James Clark and 44-year-old Mark Harper. Both men are being charged with armed robbery and murder, and are being held in the Gwinnett County Detention Center, according to a Gwinnett Police statement.

Officers were originally called to the Paces Crossing Apartments at 4300 Jimmy Carter Blvd in the early hours of Oct. 2. They found a man, now identified as Sarkar, lying near the door of his apartment with multiple gunshot wounds.
