Another Homicide Reported in Norcross Area

The victim was the second person to be found shot to death last weekend. Investigators do not believe the cases are related.

Gwinnett County Police reported today that another homicide has occurred in an unincorporated area of Norcross.

Officers reported to a call of a shooting on Oct. 2 at 1:15 a.m. at 4300 Jimmy Carter Blvd. An officer arrived at the Paces Crossing apartments to find a man in his mid-30s lying near the door of his apartment, shot multiple times, according to a Gwinnett Police release.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he later died as a result of the injuries, according to Cpl. Jake Smith of the Gwinnett Police Dept.

The identity of the man is not being released, since police are still attempting to notify his family. Investigators are still working on the case, according to Smith's statement, and they don't believe there is any connection to a homicide that occurred nearby on Oct. 1. In that case, a man was found dead in the woods off S. Norcross-Tucker Rd. in what police believe was a homicide.

Police ask that anyone with information about this case contact the Gwinnett County Police detectives at 770-513-5300.
