The Moveable Feast Farm-to-Table Supper Club Farmhouse 17

Farmhouse 17

We recently attended the June 22 the Moveable Feast Farm-to-Table Supper Club at Farmhouse 17. Farmhouse 17 is located in a lovely renovated historical cottage with gardens beds out back that include a retail shop as well as the large communal dining tables. The philosophy behind the supper club is not only to create a memorable feast by promoting sustainability with the use of local farms and food artisans but help to create an atmosphere of camaraderie with new faces in the neighborhood. We very much enjoyed the group of neighbors who attended this month’s feast. Some were long time friends and others were delightful new acquaintances. The supper club provides an opportunity to meet people you would typically not have the occasion to meet over a seasonal, locally sourced and expertly prepared meal. Each month a local chef is chosen to host the dinner highlighting products from a local farm with proceeds going to a local charity to end hunger in Georgia. We were delighted with Chef Wakefield’s superbly executed five course dinner featuring peaches from Dickey Farms. We started off with a glass of champagne and an appetizer of Medjool dates wrapped with applewood bacon, stuffed with goat cheese, Georgia peach and champagne gastrique. Our first course was an organic lightly spicy Georgia peach gazpacho topped with crème fraiche and tempura battered jalapeno. Our second course was a bourbon poached peach salad with Georgia wild shrimp, Belgian endive, Sweetgrass Dairy goat cheese, spiced Georgian pecans with a peach and ginger vinaigrette. Our main course was Brasstown beef short rib braised in peach cider, with local baby turnips, pickled peaches, potato gratin and natural jus reduction. Our dessert course was a ‘Slap Yo Mama’ peach cobbler with homemade peach sorbet and caramelized peaches. The supper club allows you to bring your beverage of choice such as wine or beer and they will provide mineral water for your convenience. This unique dining experience is a great addition to Norcross’ restaurant scene. Visit their web site for reservations www.the-moveable-feast.com
