Second Coming of the Messiah?

The Baitul Baqi Mosque is offering a presentation on their beliefs of the Second Coming of the Messiah.

Many are familiar with Judgement Day in Christianity. After the world didn't see it happen May 21 last year, that day is now predicted to be Dec. 21, 2012, at least according to the Mayan calendar.

One minority Muslim sect believes the Second Coming of the Messiah has already happened, though. For Ahmadiyya Muslims, the Second Coming took place in 1835, and it didn’t involve the idea of salvation and natural-disaster horrors that many of us are familiar with.

The Georgia chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is inviting the public to the Baitul Baqi Mosque to learn about their beliefs on the Second Coming. The Norcross mosque will teach the crowd about what signs led to the Second Coming, and how the Messiah is more about teaching and saving those who may have lost their way in Islam.

Naseem Mahdi, vice president of the nation's Ahmaiyya Muslim Community, is traveling from Washington to educate and answer questions on the topic. Event organizer Nafis Rehman will also open with a presentation.

The Second Coming of the Messiah event will take place at Baitul Baqi Mosque, located at 6113 Oakbrook Parkway in Norcross from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 17. Light refreshments will be served.
