Should we adopt unincorporated Norcross?

With the holiday season quickly approaching, I'm compiling the usual list of things I'm thankful for and things I want to improve on next year. However, this year something different came to mind. I asked myself, "What can we do to make Norcross better?" Surprisingly, this questions was actually difficult to answer. If you're part of this Norcross community, it's hard to find much to complain about. Our schools are great, our neighborhoods are warm, and our downtown is quaint and charming. But that's only true for us in incorporated Norcross. Once you cross Buford Highway the same cannot be said. We seldom think of our Norcross neighbors, and I believe that should change. Why can't we incorporate the unincorporated area of our city? Do we see ourselves as better than them? Above them? Are we worried about our property values, or is there a racial/cultural aspect to this question that we are uncomfortable addressing? While it's hard for one person to make a difference on an issue such as this, I have decided to at least try. I plan to contact the city council about our downtrodden neighbors. I'm sure we can help, and I'm sure the process can be financially, socially, and culturally beneficial for all parties involved. So in this holiday season I ask you, my neighbors, should we adopt unincorporated Norcross?
