Mercer's Future Leaders Attend Regional Training Retreat

Four students represent Mercer University at The National Society of Leadership and Success retreat and conference in Charlotte, NC

ATLANTA —The Mercer University-Atlanta chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) sent a delegation of four students and two advisors to the annual regional leadership retreat, Nov. 15-16, in Charlotte, NC.

The 2-day retreat, held at the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel, allowed NSLS organization members from across the United States the chance to build stronger school chapters and gain lifelong leadership skills. Students practiced goal setting, developed chapter action plans, and expanded their national and regional contacts through networking. Each chapter was challenged to tie the lessons learned into each student’s career plans, as well as share the lessons with their membership that could not attend.

“This experience has opened my eyes to the importance of utilizing our elected positions to better all students at Mercer,” said Atlanta chapter president Chad Bumgarner, an Organizational Leadership major, “This is often difficult as the cultures of our many campuses vary widely. The traits of leadership, however, transcend all majors, all demographics, and all cultures.”
