Doors to Homes and Hope Exhibit Shows in Norcross, Gwinnett County in October

The opening exhibition is this Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Norcross Art Fest.

Doors to Homes and Hope, an outdoor public art exhibit to increase awareness of inadequate housing, will be featured in Norcross throughout October.

The inaugural event is hosted by the city of Norcross, and specifically shines a light on Gwinnett Habitat for Humanity, Gwinnett ReStore and ArtWorks! Gwinnett.

More than 100 artists painted and decorated the doors for the special art exhibition. The first "Door of Art" was submitted by Tannery Row artist Tonya Haswell.

The door is painted on both sides, showcasing a field of poppies under a blue sky and on the back, a quote by Jimmy Carter "I have one life and only one chance to make it count for something".

Installation of the doors is Friday, Oct. 4. In addition to Norcross, the exhibit will also be shown in Suwanee, Duluth, and several other places around the county.

The art will be available for purchase online with proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity and the arts in Gwinnett County.
