Save the Date: Norcross Recycle, Clean-Up Day Is March 30

The bi-annual event will have stations for shredding paper, recycling electronics, getting rid of general trash and donating canned goods.

The weather's heating up, and you know what that means: spring cleaning.

And the city of Norcross is here to help with that. On Saturday, March 30, Norcross is having its bi-annual Recycling and Clean-Up Day with four different stations to cover most residents' needs.

One station will cover shredding documents and papers. American Security Shredding is back at Norcross City Hall from 9 a.m. to noon with an on-site shredding truck with a video display monitor so that everyone can watch the action. The event is free to residents and the public, but be warned: The truck tends to get full before the midday deadline, so get there early. There's also a five-box maximum per vehicle.

Recycle electronics such as old cell phones, computers and keyboards at the Norcross Community Center with the help of city volunteers and the Atlanta Recycling Solution. The event is free and open to the public, but there will be a $10 fee for recycling televisions.

For everything else, a general trash station will be offered, but only to city residents. Bring all unwanted materials such as old appliances and furniture, as long as they're not solvent or hazardous, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to the Public Works Barn, located at 345 Lively St. off Buford Highway.

Lastly, don't forget about the 2013 CAN Do for Hunger Campaign. Clean out that pantry for canned and non-perishable foods and donate to the Norcross Cooperative Ministry to supply families in need.
