Police: Woman Tattooed 11-Year-Old With 'Tramp Stamp'

Dayana Maldonado, of Norcross, was arrested and charged in the incident.

A Norcross woman was arrested last week in connection to tattooing an 11-year-old girl.

According to the Gwinnett County Police report, the mother of the child found the tattoo of a small star on her back while helping her get dressed one day in June. The daughter told her that Dayana Maldonado, 19, was responsible for the tattoo. The mother told police that Maldonado is the former girlfriend of her other daughter and she's currently dating her niece.

When police first questioned Maldonado, she denied ever tattooing the girl or letting her in the house. However, when police interviewed the child, she was able to draw the home's layout and provide specific details on how she received the tattoo, which she affectionately referred to as a "tramp stamp."

The young girl told police that she went to Maldonado's home with her cousin in May and spent the night. During their time there, Maldonado had tattooed the cousin, which piqued the girl's interest. She pleaded for a tattoo, so Maldonado tattooed a small star on the girl's lower back, near her hip.

The investigator observed the tattoo, calling it "poorly drawn" and "uneven in dimension" in the report. It was obvious that an amateur drew it.

Authorities also interviewed the suspect's girlfriend, who told police that she saw the incident. She had several small stars tattooed on her shoulder blade, which were similar to the girl's.

Finally, police went to interview Maldonado a second time with this new information and she eventually confessed to putting the tattoo on the girl. She was arrested and charged with tattooing of children last Thursday (July 11).
