Norcross Weekend Planner: Bling, Birds and Antiques

Check out what's happening in Norcross this weekend.

After a cold midweek, the weekend promises to bring warmer weather to the Norcross and metro area. Celebrate by doing something fun this weekend in town.

On Thursday, Anna Balkan Gallery is hosting Let's Bling Out Blood Cancer, a fundraiser to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Everyone is invited to join the bejeweled celebration of color and beauty from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the downtown Norcross shop. Beverages and sweets will be served. RSVP by emailing amydbeads@gmail.com.

Friday is the opening night of Lionheart Theatre Co.'s latest production, "Second Samuel." The play is a 1940s comedy-drama about secrets and the death of an old woman in a little South Georgia town. Click here for ticket and show information.

With doors opening at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Norcross Cultural Arts and Community Center, the Norcross Antiques Road Show is back this year with HGTV personality and professional appraiser Selma Paul. Admission and appraisals are free, but Paul is only evaluating 25 items, so be sure to get there early.

At 1 p.m. the same day, meet a real falcon at the Bird of Prey Workshop at the Norcross Library. A bilingual event that is meant for the whole family, the workshop will have Medieval Times master falconer Debbie Tennyson doing a presentation on the ancient art of falconry. The event is free.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, guests can shop for purses, jewelry, clothing, and natural body care products in a relaxed atmosphere, and 15 to 20 percent of all purchases will go to the Georgia Chapter of the MS Society. Light snacks and drinks will be served at the free event, too.
