Norcross Man Indicted for Child Pornography Possession, Distribution

Kevin Hickey, who was formerly employed as the director of Parish Outreach for Life Teen International, has been arraigned for engaging in an online conversation monitored by federal agents where he shared the images.

A Norcross man who used to work closely with teenagers has been arraigned on federal child pornography charges.

Kevin Hickey, formerly the director of Parish Outreach for Life Teen International in Atlanta, was indicted by a federal grand jury last Monday (July 1) specifically for  distribution and possession of child pornography, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Public Affairs Office.

“We expect adults working in positions of trust to serve as role models for our children and safeguard their welfare,” said Brock D. Nicholson, special agent in charge for HSI Atlanta, in the release.

The 39-year-old was arrested June 6 after he shared child pornography during an online communication monitored by federal agents earlier that month. In the conversation, he had said he was watching “perving vids” and then shared a pornographic video depicting prepubescent males being sodomized by an adult male. He also displayed photographs of children he took surreptitiously in public places and was heard gratifying himself sexually during the online conversation.

Investigators have found thousands of images of child exploitation on Hickey’s electronic devices at home.

“This defendant collected and distributed highly graphic images portraying the sexual exploitation and abuse of young children all while being entrusted to protect, counsel and serve children,” said United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates.

The release states that distribution of child pornography carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and a statutory maximum of 20 years.  Possession of child pornography carries a statutory maximum sentence of ten years. A conviction on either offense carries a term of supervised release from five years to life and a requirement that the defendant register as a sex offender.
