Norcross HS Highlighted at NBA Breakfast

The Gwinnett public school was the main focus at the Norcross Business Association meeting which was co-hosted by the Peachtree Corners Business Association.

Community business men and women from Norcross and Peachtree Corners had an opportunity to see first-hand the value of a community-supported public school Wednesday morning at a breakfast held at Norcross High School.

The Norcross Business Association and the Peachtree Corners Business Association co-hosted the breakfast meeting that was held Sept. 19. The theme of the meeting was "Change a Child, Change a Community."

Will Bishop, the school's new principal, welcomed the group of about 55. "We were excited when we started talking about having a meeting at the school," said Bishop, who took over as the school principal in January.

Bishop, a Norcross High grad himself, told the group it was "nice to be back home," but admitted there had been a lot of changes since he attended. "Today we have over 3350 students and we're the third largest school in the county," he said.

But, he said, not all was new. "Some things haven't changed, Bishop told the group. "This is a community that supports the school as none other has."

The support of the communities of Peachtree Corners and Norcross were the cornerstone of the school's success, he said. "Great communities help build great schools," said Bishop. "But great schools also help build great communities."

In an agenda that included a number of student speakers, teachers and principals, the PCBA members learned the value that education plays in every community's future.

Atlanta Bread Co. provided the breakfast and beverages. The PCBA's next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 18. Visit the NBA's website for details and more information on the business organization.
