-------

A man was shot outside his Norcross-area home Friday (July 19) during an armed robbery.

According to a news release from Gwinnett County Police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter, the incident occurred off the 1000 block of Traymore Dr. around 4:15 a.m. Bobby Swanger, 25, was returning home from work and removing items from his car when a man approached him.

The other man pointed a gun at the Swanger and asked for his wallet.

"As the victim reached for his wallet, the suspect shot him in the shoulder," Ritter continued.

Swanger was shot a second time, this time in his leg, when he turned to run toward his house. The suspect left in an unknown direction.

The victim was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Swanger described the suspect as light-skinned black male wearing a white t-shirt and dark shorts. He had light facial hair and was wearing a large dark-colored hat. He was in his early 20s, approximately 5’ 11” and weighed approximately 210 lbs.

Investigators are following up on all leads and are looking into the possibility that this may be connected to several other armed robberies in recent weeks. Anyone with information regarding this incident and the identity of the suspect is urged to call the Gwinnett County Police at 770-513-5319 or 770-513-5300.
