Live Jazz Music, Street Performers on Tap This Weekend

The streets of old Norcross will be filled with with strolling magicians, acrobats, and live music May 10 - 11.

The historic streets of Norcross will be transformed on Friday night as the sidewalks and alleys of the old town are filled with street entertainers, and on Saturday, live jazz will fill the air in the recently renovated Skin Alley.

From 7-9 p.m. Friday, May 10, "keep your eyes open for a mythical beast, magicians and fire-eaters - or maybe even a 9-foot tall acrobat," says Tixie Fowler, the city's PR and Marketing Manager.

"ItΒ is the first of many 'random' evenings throughout the summer when Atlanta's finest street performers (also called 'buskers') have been invited to perform on the streets in Downtown Historic Norcross," said Fowler.

You are invited to stroll the streets, take a seat on one of the sidewalk benches or dine at one of the restaurants with outdoor seating and watch the buskers who will be performing throughout the evening.

"The entertainment is free, but if you enjoy the show, please plan to tip - they work really hard to be this amazing," said Fowler.

Then on Saturday night (May 11), the city's recently renovated Skin Alley will feature national recording jazz artist Eric Thomas on stage with "Elevate the Quest."

Thomas will be featured along with WCLK 91.9FM Nicole "Velvet Voyce" Sweeney for a free concert from 7 p.m - 9 p.m. in Skin Alley.

"Bring a chair and a date or 20 of your friends, get a dinner-to-go from one of the downtown restaurants and hang out in the Alley for an evening of first-rate jazz," said Fowler.
