Lionheart Theatre Returns to Its Roots at Norcross Presbyterian

Director Tanya Caldwell is bringing a new, lighthearted play to the church where the theatre company originally started more than a decade ago.

There is good news for Lionheart Theatre regulars who remember when the local theater got its start over a decade ago performing at Norcross Presbyterian Church on Medlock Bridge Road.

Lionheart's original director, Tanya Caldwell, has returned to bring a new play to theater-lovers, "The Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise." The show will run from May 15-18 at the Medlock Bridge Road church.

Caldwell says she's stepping back in as director to help with fund-raising efforts for her home church where she has been a member for the past 18 years. "Lionheart is off and running," said Caldwell. "Now I can do things I want to do to help the church."

The cast of nine thespians are a mixture of "Lionheart folks and new folks," said Caldwell. The play centers around a central figure, "Doc" who has lost his wife some years back. A retired attorney and judge, he's come to the conclusion that life shouldn't be taken so seriously. A caste of characters includes eccentric neighbors, Doc's daughter and an unscrupulous attorney makes for an interesting story line.

The play runs from May 15- 18, tickets are $10 and includes dessert at intermission. All proceeds benefit the church.
