Slaughter's support of literacy might help to explain her current campaign to raise awareness of and gather support for libraries. She seemed pleased that Barnes & Noble would give back to the library by donating a portion of each sale that weekend to the library.

"You can support your library when you shop online from now through July 9th at www.bn.com and enter the library’s Bookfair Event ID Number 10503043 in the designated field found at the bottom of the payment page during checkout," said Diane Payne, spokesperson for the Gwinnett County Public Libraries.
