'Moonshiners' Star Meets Local Fans While Collecting for West Texas Victims - Douglasville Patch

The Discovery Channel’s “Moonshiners” television show star Tim Smith stopped by at the Douglas County Fire/EMS Headquarters Monday to raise funds for the West, Texas, Volunteer Fire Department that was destroyed in last week’s fertilizer plant blast. In private life, Smith is the Fire Chief of the Climax, VA., Fire and Rescue Department, a small volunteer fire department similar to that of West, Texas.

$2.5 Million Lottery Ticket Sold in Hinesville - Fort Stewart Patch

A Georgia Lottery instant ticket worth $2.5 million was sold recently at a Hinesville gas station, according to a Georgia Lottery Corporation press release.

Perry, Fla., resident Stanley Carlton purchased the winning Millionaire Jumbo Bucks ticket at Hinesville Station, 1046 W. Oglethorpe Highway, the release stated. Carlton recently claimed his prize at the Georgia Lottery district office in Savannah.

Patient Flown to Area Hospital After Vehicle Versus Tractor-Trailer Accident - Barrow Patch

An accident Tuesday afternoon involving an SUV and a tractor-trailer carrying cars resulted in a patient being flown to an area hospital.

Scott Dakin, public information officer for Barrow County Emergency Services, said the accident occurred at Ga. Highway 81 and Rivermill Road and one individual had to be extracted from the car involved. A second patient was transported via ambulance to an area hospital.

Motorcycle Cop Injured in Collision Downtown With Taxi - Athens Patch

Senior Police Officer Kenneth Beavers went to the hospital with a concussion, a broken leg and a facial injury after a crash at North Thomas and East Dougherty streets, according to a story in the Athens Banner Herald. He was riding a county-owned motorcycle at the time of the crash.
