RaceTrac Responds to Food Recall

The gas station and convenience store chain said they removed items from their stores prior to Flying Food Group's recall.

 released the following statement in response to the  issued Thursday by Georgia–based supplier, Flying Food Group: 

“ considers the safety of our guests and in-store team members of paramount importance. On July 25, 2011, prior to any official announcement, we learned of a pending voluntary product recall of USDA/FDA-regulated food distributed in Georgia by one of our food suppliers, Flying Food Group. As a proactive measure to protect the best interest of our guests,  preemptively removed all products prepared and provided by Flying Food Group from our 65 Georgia stores on July 25. No other RaceTrac products or markets were impacted. Any reports to the contrary are incorrect.

On July 27, 2011, Flying Food Group officially announced its voluntary recall of the USDA/FDA-regulated food items listed below:

  • 9.05 ounce packages of “Turkey Quarter Pounder with Tomatoes” that have “Sell Thru” dates of 7/17 -7/28
  • 4.95 ounce packages of “Egg Salad” that have “Sell Thru” dates of 7/17-7/28
  • 4.95 ounce packages of “Chicken Salad” that have “Sell Thru” dates of 7/17-7/28
  • 7.8 ounce packages of “Chicken Quarter Pounder” that have “Sell Thru” dates of 7/17-7/28
  • 7.38 ounce packages of “Turkey Quarter Pounder” that have “Sell Thru” dates of 7/17 – 7/28
  • 8.8 ounce packages of “Chicken Quarter Pounder with Tomatoes” that have “Sell Thru” dates of 7/17-7/28
  • 8.4 ounce packages of “Jumbo BBQ Pork Sandwich” that have “Sell Thru” dates of 7/17-7/28
  • 7.38 ounce packages of “Ham Quarter Pounder” that have “Sell Thru” dates of 7/17-7/28
  • 9.05 ounce packages of “Ham Quarter Pounder with Tomatoes” that have “Sell Thru” dates of 7/17-7/28

The products were produced between July 13 and July 24, 2011 and distributed in Georgia only. We are not aware of any illnesses that have been linked to the consumption of these products.

As a result of our earlier actions, none of the products produced in the impacted facility are available in our Georgia stores. Further, we will not return any products from that supplier to the shelves until we are assured they meet RaceTrac's high quality and safety standards.
