New Development Possible at Webb Park

FG Capital, LLC looking into developing two parcels in the downtown park.

Part of the grand vision for Lillian Webb Park is a commercial component at the top of the park, two “pads” of land that could be developed for residential, retail or office space, bringing more energy and foot traffic downtown.

That vision may be closer to reality, since a Peachtree Corners business has expressed interest in developing the pads. Norcross resident and DDA Board Member Brant Aden of FG Capital, LLC is the interested party.

The pads were deeded over to the DDA as part of the overall development of Lillian Webb, which the authority managed.

Aden said he is currently working on the details of the project. “This is a very exciting opportunity for Norcross, one that will be an inspiration and momentum for future developments around Lillian Webb Park,” he said in an email.

The development could potentially include an office space for his company, currently located at the Forum.

“This is would be the biggest investment in downtown in years—it is really something to get excited about,” said DDA chair Chuck Cimarik. Through his work on the DDA and by being a long-time resident, Aden has become invested in downtown, which makes him the best kind of developer, according to Cimarik. “The term ‘he has skin in the game’ has been overused—but it does apply here,” said Cimarik.

Since Aden is on the DDA board he had to formally disclose his interest and present the authority was a possible Conflict of Interest statement at the last board meeting. “In order to preserve the open dialogue among DDA Board Members, I have decided to take a 90 day hiatus, effective last week,” Aden said in a note.

Cimarik said he has racked his brain to think of any competitive advantage Aden may have been given by being on the DDA board—but he can’t think of any. “His only advantage is that he lives downtown… He’s seen the momentum,” said Cimarik. “It is a continuing upswell.”
