Plans For Movie Studio on OFS Property Still A Go

A portion of the Jimmy Carter Boulevard site is currently being leased as a sound studio for "Fast & Furious 7," a Universal film due out summer of 2014.

Plans to build a movie studio on the OFS property in Norcross are continuing to move forward according to several sources.

Curbed.com reports that Jim Jacoby, who developed Atlantic Station, has plans to open a 400,000 square-foot media studio that would include a film school and student housing and already has 100 acres under contract. The property is located on Jimmy Carter Boulevard and I-85. OFS continues to occupy part of the 175-acre site.

A portion of the building "is currently being used as a sound stage for Fast & Furious 7," said Norcross Mayor Bucky Johnson. The movie, due out in the summer of 2014, is the latest in a series of action films produced by Universal Studios.

If Jacoby's plans go through, the Gwinnett location would be the largest movie studio in the southeast.
