Construction Begins for Nearby Walmart

A new contractor has been selected and has begun working at the site of the new Winters Chapel store in Peachtree Corners.

If you've driven along Winters Chapel Road recently, you've undoubtedly noticed the contruction activity on the site of the old Supremo Market in Peachtree Corners. Work on the new Walmart Neighborhood Market has begun.

The new 36,000 square-foot grocery store is expected to be complete before the end of 2013 said Walmart spokesman Bill Wertz.

"Construction has started," said Wertz. "We are moving ahead and hope to open in the fall, but we don't have a firm opening date at this time."

The new market will sell groceries and include a drive-thru pharmacy. The company expects to hire about 90 part-time and full-time employees said Wertz. Most of the staff will be full time he said.

"Generally we begin the hiring process about six months before the store opens," said Wertz. However, those interested in applying now may do so online at www.careers.walmart.com.
