Norcross Fireworks Postponed; Independence Day Concert Still Scheduled as Planned

The July 3rd event, sans fireworks, will go on in historic downtown until 10 p.m.

Norcross has postponed its Independence Day fireworks due to inclement weather, according to City Manager Rudolph Smith.

The fireworks were originally set for 9:30 p.m. after Mother's Finest plays the July 3rd event, but heavy rain and a flash flood watch has gotten in the way. The fireworks will be rescheduled for a future event, said Smith.

Mother's Finest, a popular group from Atlanta's 1970s music scene that's known for their funky rock rhythms and expressive R&B singing, is still scheduled to perform in Lillian Webb Park at 8:30 p.m. Heroes, the evening's opening band, will take the stage at 6:30 p.m.

However, the music could be canceled if there's enough torrential rain and lightning in the way.

Nearly 15,000 people come to the city of Norcross' annual July 3rd celebration. The event takes place from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Historic Downtown Norcross.
