What's Up This Weekend?

Here's what's happening in Norcross this weekend.

Kick off the weekend by helping our public schools. The Norcross Cluster Schools Partnership (NCSP) is holding its annual fundraiser on Friday to support area public school teachers, students and educational activities. Event details are online at www.norcrosscsp.org

Or if you want to be entertained, see Of Mice and Men at the Lionheart Theatre Friday though Sunday.

On Saturday night, there is a fundraiser for Aimee Copeland, the 24-year-old Snellville resident who lost her limbs from flesh-eating bacteria after a zip-line accident. Called Art for Aimee: Our Community Can Help, artist Vicki Johnson is donating a portion of her sales to help Copeland with her medical expenses. Copeland herself is expected to be there. The event is at 6 p.m. in the Norcross Welcome Center and Museum, 189 Lawrenceville Street in downtown Norcross.

Don’t forget to recycle your old computer keyboards, monitors – and anything else electronic – at the Norcross Clean-Up and Recycling Day on Saturday. You can also shred documents and drop off hazardous materials.

Saturday night, you can also enjoy Concerts in the Park, a charity fundraiser sponsored jointly by Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and the Gwinnett Pearls of Service Foundation.

And if you’ve always wanted a parrot, check out the Exotic Bird Fair at the North Atlanta Trade Center on Saturday and Sunday. You can buy both birds and supplies for them.
