Viewfinder: Whistle Stop Farmers Market

Tuesday's opening of the Whistle Stop Farmers Market drew hundreds from the metro area to view all the food, art and entertainment.

More than 35 vendors set up shop in Norcross' on the first day of May, despite the hot heat.

Almost every bit of summer goodness you can think of was available for purchase: lickable popsicles from the King of Pops; gourmet dog treats from Terra Dog Bakery; jams, jellies, teas and spices from Serendipitea; guilty-pleasure bundt cakes from The Bundt Stop; organic vegetables and homemade sauces and salsas from Phoenix Gardens; and tons more.

New this year was the artists' market, coming complete with jewelry, paintings and other crafts.

Victoria Potts displayed her wheel thrown and hand pottery through her company, simply named Potts; artist Milena Hernandez showcased her whimsical miniature paintings on tiny easels; and designer Shannon Donehoo of SD Designs had creations of earrings, necklaces and bracelets.

Greater Atlanta Christian Schools' jazz band played to get the crowd going and add amazing background music, not only for the locals roaming from tent to tent, but also for those relaxing and eating and the kids jumping rope.
