Viewfinder: Strawberry Stroll

Thrasher Park and downtown Norcross played host to a 5k, kids activities and strawberry delights.

The annual Strawberry Stroll was in full effect Saturday with strawberry-inspired foods, kids activities and more.

Promptly at 10 a.m., nearly 200 runners and walkers took part in the second annual 5k, spearheaded by the RTS Packaging division of , and shortly after everything else fell into place. Dahlonega Vegetable Farms set up its tent along Jones Street, the downtown shops offered strawberry desserts, and kids took part in face painting and bounce houses in .

All proceeds from the 5k and kids activities benefitted Kingdom Kids, a nonprofit organization that helps local children and families with challenges. For this year's Strawberry Stroll, Kingdom Kids is sponsoring a local 19-year-old girl who was diagnosed with leukemia. The funds will go toward a trip where she and her family will be swimming with the dolphins.
