Vargas & Harbin Raises $1,500 for Hurricane Sandy Victims

The funds from the Norcross studio gallery event will go to the American Red Cross.

Last Wednesday, Vargas & Harbin Studio Gallery raised $1,500 for Hurricane Sandy victims during its going away party for Gwinnett County Artworks Director Sally Corbett.

The funds, which will go to the American Red Cross, was collected during the party through raffle tickets for artwork and photography from local artists.

Downtown restaurants and merchants supplied free food and gifts for the event. The businesses included 45 South Cafe, Mojitos, Dominicks, Iron Horse Tavern, Anna Balkan Gallery, Good Things, and The Shops of Antique Traditions.

The idea for the fundraiser came from Corbett, who's returning to her hometown of New York to be closer to family.

"We wish Sally Corbett farewell and safe travels back to her home in metro NYC," said the gallery in a statement. "Thanks to all her efforts in building the Arts in Gwinnett County."
