Updated, 9:30 p.m.

It's almost Friday, Norcross, and we've got your list of local events right here. Let the weekend commence!

Head to Friday, July 27, from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. for a book signing and reading from author and life coach James Barrett. Also a decorated Vietnam veteran, Barrett is the author of "Musings, Poems, Short Stories," a collection of anecdotes from the heart. He offers a "spiritual insight from a lifetime of helping others on their journey," according to a statement from the gallery.
