The Norcross Weekend Planner

A backyard barbecue at Iron Horse, this month's Third Thursdays Arts Party and a 5K for a good cause.

What's going on in Norcross this weekend?

Well, for starters, the arts just never stops in Norcross. This week is the second month of the Third Thursday Arts Party, with live music, exhibitions and culinary treats. Check out work from local photographers at Vargas & Harbin Gallery Studio and Kudzu Art Zone for the metro-wide Atlanta Celebrates Photography event. Chalk It Up Norcross will have interactive fun, and there'll also be exciting things at Bella Vita Gallery, The Nest, and Anna Balkan's Jewelry Studio. In between the shops, grab a Norcross Party Cup at a downtown eatery and get it filled with different drinks at the restaurants. The fun starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m.

The art doesn't stop there, either--Kudzu Art Zone is having the official opening reception for its ACP exhibition, PhotoMix, on Friday, Oct. 19, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The tours also will take place Saturday, Oct. 20, and Halloween weekend.

Get up bright and early Saturday for a good cause! Proceeds from C.H.U.K. will go to the United Cerebral Palsy of Georgia organization. To sign up for the race and for more information, check out the UCPGA website

Afterward, head down the street for a Backyard BBQ in the Iron Horse Tavern parking lot. The tavern and Bleu House Cafe have collaborated for a day filled with pulled pork and turkey, craft beer and live music. Geoff Hammett, Soul Tribe and Stefan Cashwell will be performing, and brew from SweetWater and Terrapin will be available for patrons. Attendance is free, and food plates are $7. The fun starts at 1 p.m. and lasts until 8 p.m.

Lastly, Atlanta's OTC Comedy Troupe will be at Lionheart Theatre performing one of their improv shows. Check out the actors' celebrity impressions, one-of-a-kind songs and parodies of the news at the Norcross theatre from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets at $10.
