On Friday, will have an opening reception for its third major show called "Outer Dimensions." The exhibit features three-dimensional work that focuses on "art in the round," according to a statement from the gallery. The reception and awards presentation will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and the exhibit will run until Sept. 1.

If you're looking for something smaller, head to either 45 South Cafe or Iron Horse Tavern. is having Lash Brooks on Friday, and Roxie Randle is playing Saturday, both at 7:30 p.m. Saturday is 's usual dose of karaoke starting at 10 p.m.

Earlier on Saturday, authors Kate Awtrey and Sally Toole are having their book launch party for The pictorial novel, which debuted last month, matches vintage photos with modern ones from photographer Awtrey. The party lasts from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at .Β 

also is having an event Saturday called Family and Friends Day. For adults and children, there will be carnival food, the Rolling Video Game Truck (filled with 16 seats with all types of games), a car wash, inflatables, basketball, carnival games, school supply giveaways and more. In addition, the congregation will have its annual health fair, complete with dessert, a heart disease seminar, zumba, health screenings and more. A AARP Membership Drive also willΒ be in full swing.The festival is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Saturday just doesn't quit. The Golden Spike Train Show will be at the for the 43rd year from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 11. With admission at $7 and no cost for kids under 12, the show will feature more than 300 tables of model trains and railroad collectibles.
