T-Shirt Design Selected for Norcross Art Fest

A colorful, whimsical piece was chosen because it captures the spirit of the festival.

Organizers of the Norcross Art Fest have selected a T-shirt design, Tracy Booth’s piece “Catching Sunshine.”

The vibrant work features two fairies soaring in a hot air balloon, one of them with a net in hand, trying to capture some rays.

“This is a very whimsical festival, a festival with personality, fun and colorful art, “ said Frances Schube, President of Splash Festivals, which organizes the Fest, which will be held on Oct. 1 and 2. “This piece was the epitome of whimsical fun.”

The organizers say the selection is difficult because they want to find something that captures the spirit of festival—and it also has to be something that both and man and woman will want to sport. (One kid size will be available, too.)

The same image will appear on a billboard on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and on the posters, flyers and other promotional materials. The piece also served as inspiration for this year’s slogan: Norcross Art Fest—Catch It.

Everyone always buzzes about the t-shirt art since it's worn by over 400 volunteers the weekend of the festival,” said Art Fest treasurer Cindy Flynn.

The process of selecting artists has already been completed for the festival, which will feature a Norcross Arts Alliance-sponsored literary stage for the first time. The Holcomb Bridge Road intersection in Downtown Norcross will also be closed this year, allowing for more space for strollers and less traffic congestion, the organizers said.
