Save the Date: Norcross Car Show Is May 18

The annual benefit brings thousands of people to Norcross every year.

It's back for the 16th year: the Norcross Car Show.

The annual benefit is one of the city's most attended events, drawing in thousands of people to see vintage Fords, new high-end cars, motorcycles and more, parked along the streets of historic downtown.

According to Dodger and Liz DeLeon, the Norcross couple in charge of the car show, the event will return May 18 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Attendees still can expect food and drinks, a raffle, prizes, a silent auction, and of course, a variety of displayed cars. At least 65 vehicles have been registered so far, and while they've always given away awards to the top cars, they're also awarding plaques to the top 25 cars of the 2013 show.

And the raffle prizes just seem to be getting bigger: One lucky winner will receive a whopping $1,000 in cash, and other goodies include a set of tires, a $300 gift certificate for tires, a Primo grill and more.

Silent auction items are being decided on still, but there will be baseball memorabilia items for sale.

The car show has 13 sponsors so far this year, and it includes the City of Norcross, Bennor Engineering McGuire's Car Wax, Long Shadow Productions Inc. and the Hilton in Peachtree Corners, which will be providing shuttle buses to the show, like it offered last year.

All funds from the car show go to the Kristi Memorial Scholarship in honor of Dodger DeLeon's daughter. His daughter was injured in a car accident in 1997, and to help raise funds for her hospital bills, a car show was held in Norcross.

Even though she passed away six months after the accident, Dodger DeLeon decided to keep the car show going for the scholarship. The scholarship money goes to students in the medical field since Kristi was studying to be a nurse before she died.

Those interested in entering their vehicles into the car show should contact Dodger and Liz DeLeon at 770-448-2664 or norcrosscarshow@bellsouth.net. Pre-registration costs $20 and ends May 11, and registration afterward through the day of the show is $25.
