Norcross Weekend Planner: St. Patrick's Day Celebrations and More

Check out what's happening this weekend in Norcross.

Whether you intend on downing Irish car bombs with your buddies or plan on doing something not related to the color green, Norcross has something for everyone this St. Patrick's Day weekend.

For those celebrating the patron saint, locals can check out Iron Horse Tavern for goodies all weekend. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the pub will have live music, drink specials, and traditional Irish food such as corned beef and cabbage. Be sure to check out the tavern's St. Patrick's Day Weekend event page at the link.

On Saturday, more holiday activities abound at the St. Patrick's Day Celebration in Lillian Webb Park. Hosted by St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the inaugural festival will have live music, food sales, sports activities, a children's play area, and more from noon to 6 p.m. As a festival that reflects more of the diversity in Norcross, different cultures will be represented throughout.

In addition to Lionheart's performance of "Second Samuel" doing another round of performances this weekend, the local theatre company also will have its second dose of Lion Tales. On the third Saturday of every month, let the young ones listen to storytellers Bill and Jill spin a yarn from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Snacks and crafts will be provided, too, and the cost per child is $2, with $1 going to the Norcross Cooperative Ministry. RSVPs are preferred, so contact the theatre at 678-938-8518.

On Sunday, a new exhibit called "Inspired Visions: Women's Apparel 1860-1950" will have its opening from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Norcross Arts Center. The exhibit, which will be on display through the month, will showcase costumes inspired by actual photos of women who lived in Norcross during that time.
