Check out what's happening this Friday and Saturday (June 14-15) in Norcross.

Updated, 4:55 p.m.

The weekend is here!

Get it started with some art at Kudzu Art Zone. The downtown gallery is debuting "Open," its First Juried Art Exhibition on Friday. More than 70 Georgia artists submitted 170 works to be judged, ranging from mixed media to sculpture. While the gallery is having its opening reception and awards presentation next weekend, guests can still check out the work from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Click here for more details.

On Saturday, storytellers Bill and Jill return to Lionheart Theatre Co. for Lion's Tales. This month's event will feature two stories, The Legend of the Blue Trees, which explains the "truth" behind the Norcross art, and Nightfall, a Peruvian legend that describes how the nighttime came about. The cost is $2 per child and it covers the stories, snack and craft project.

Bleu House Market is hosting its annual Backyard BBQ that day, too. Chef Bryan Wyatt will be roasting an entire pig, sangria and beer will be provided, and there will be live music so guests can just lounge and let the music take them wherever they want to go and chill. The event starts at 1 p.m. and will continue until the food runs out.

The fun from the barbecue will bleed over into the BluesBerry Festival & BeerFest, which starts at 5 p.m. Hosted by Iron Horse Tavern, the brew festival will have dozens of craft beers (from Monday Night Brewing to hefes to Sweetwater) that locals can sample from while listening to an evening of blues music, starting at 6 p.m. Blueberries will take over the local eateries, including Mojitos which will be serving its special blue mojitos and Zapata's blue margaritas, and there will be blueberry ice cream.
