Georgia Red Clay to Perform in Duluth (With Audio)

The Gwinnett country four-piece band has played shows all over the county and the metro Atlanta area to crowds as big as 3,000 people.

For a band that's only been around for a year, Georgia Red Clay is definitely on the rise.

With members from Lilburn, Lawrenceville and Buford, the four-piece band has performed numerous shows in Gwinnett and the metro area to crowds as big as the thousands. Their high-energy country tunes are infused with rock and blues influences, with a side of memorable lyrics.

Patch spoke with the band recently for a Q&A before their next show, which is Thursday, Feb. 28, at Craze Tavern in Duluth.

When and how did you guys get together?

The band was started in February of 2012. We were inspired to start a band by a mutual love of music and the friendship that we all shared.

Brian Warner - Lead Vocals, Rythym Guitar
Eric Warner - Lead Guitar, Backup Vocals
Austin Patton - Bass Guitar, Backup Vocals
Rick Gilbert - Drums, Backup Vocals

What venues have you performed in metro Atlanta, specifically Gwinnett?

Wild Bill's, Wild Wing Cafe, Dixie Tavern, 120 Tavern and Music Hall, Southern Ground Social Club, Atmosphere, Branch House Tavern, Smith's Olde Bar, Peachtree Tavern, Bottom Of The Cup, Suwanee Pizza Tavern, Dos Copas, Sportstime, Sweetwater Bar and Grill, AJ's, Twisted Tavern, AC Tavern, 37 Main, Arena Tavern (Duluth)

What's the largest crowd you've played to?

The largest crowd we've played for would be about 3,000 when we opened for The Marshall Tucker Band.

The Marshall Tucker Band, Wingnutt, Alex Hall, Stonethrow, Chris Patton and The Dead Presidents, Chaos

How would you describe your songs to someone who's never listened to you before?

High-energy country music with major rock and blues influences, while staying true to classic country roots. Biting lyrics with real emotion behind them, and melodies that have a story all their own.  

Where do you get your inspiration for your songs?

Life experiences, realtionships and friendships. We also draw inspiration from the music of our favorite artists. (Lynyrd Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels Band, Zac Brown Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Hank Williams Sr., Hank Williams Jr., Johnny Cash, Eric Church)

What are the names of the notable singles and albums that you guys have?

"Nothing But Road" [is a single] played on 107.5 WTIF, and "Truth Is" is played on 94.9 The Bull and 107.5 WTIF. [We're] currently in studio recording our EP. "Don't Tread On Me" is the debut single from this EP. The single will be available Spring 2013.
