Man Allegedly Stabbed Over Pirated DVDs

Inside the Police Reports: The victim accused the seller that he sold him some poor-quality bootleg DVDs, he said.

In spirit of International Talk Like a Pirate Day this week, some piracy that went down earlier this month ended with one person being allegedly stabbed.

A 24-year-old man from the Norcross area told Gwinnett police that he had been stabbed in the back by someone selling pirated DVDs after he accused the person having "poor quality" products.

Around 4 a.m. Sept. 4, the police report says, the man had been smoking outside his residence on the 5300 block of Century Trace near Harbins Road in unincorporated Norcross. He saw another man whom he knew sold pirated DVDs pull up two doors down, so he walked over there to buy some DVDs.

During their discussion, the two started arguing about the quality of the DVDs, mainly because the consumer accused him of selling poor-quality DVDs in the past. At the end of the conversation, the seller went back to his car for what the consumer thought was for more DVDs.

When the seller returned, though, he attacked the consumer and stabbed him in the back. The suspect attempted to hit him again but missed. After the victim fell to the ground, the suspect fled.

The victim's girlfriend went outside shortly after and saw what happened, so she rushed him to the hospital. Police observed that the laceration was 3 inches in length and 2 inches deep across his left shoulder.

According to the victim, the suspect is a black male, approximately 5'4" to 5'7", "fat" and weighs 180 pounds or more. He also has a close cropped afro/fade haircut and drove a black Monte Carlo car. Additionally, the victim said he sees the suspect occasionally sell DVDs at the Texaco station on Singleton Road near Sonic.
