Lionheart Theatre Doing David Sedaris Holiday Show

The "adults only" show is written by the hysterical NPR contributor and author.

The Lionheart Theatre will present a holiday comedy Dec. 2 to 11, written by “This American Life” contributor and best-selling author David Sedaris, known for his unique brand of dark, self-depricating humor.

“The Santaland Diaries” was one of the first humor essays that Sedaris broadcast on National Public Radio, catapulting him into the spotlight. The story is a hysterical account of Sedaris’ time working as an elf at Macy’s during Christmastime. It was later adapted for the stage.

Sedaris published five series of essays afterward, four of which landed on the national bestseller list.

His essays are known for their, um, adult honesty and the Lionheart Theatre Company stresses that the show is “for adult elves only.” The show is directed by Carolyn Sheppard Choe.

The show will run on Dec. 2, 3, 4, 9 and 10. It will start at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The cost is $15 for adults and $12 for students or seniors. Dessert is included with entrance.
