Lionheart to Host Open House of New Arts Venue

The opening of The Art House will be held Satuday, Jan. 5

Lionheart Theatre Company will celebrate the opening of The Art House as an arts, special events and arts education venue this Saturday, Jan. 5, from noon to 3 p.m.

During the open house, visitors can contribute to expedition by creating a collage that will be on display through January. The open house also will include storytelling, live music, a play reading and art on display from local artists including artists from the Kudzu Art Zone, paintings rom the private collection and Ann Labaire and photography by local potographer Nancy Caldwell.

Enjoy delicious cookies and hot cider prepared by SugarBees Bakery, locally owned by entrepreneur and culinary student Allie Carroll.

Open House Schedule of events:

Noon -3 p.m.: Collage making begins and runs throughout the event. Drop in any time.

12:30 p.m.: Ten Minute play read by actors and reviewed by you.

1:30 p.m.: Story telling by Bill and Jill. Hear the wonderful story of The Mitten a Ukrainian Folktale by Jan Brett. When Nicki drops his white mitten in the snow, he goes on without realizing that it is missing. One by one, woodland animals find it and crawl in, what happens next makes for a wonderfully funny climax. 

2 p.m.: Steve McElroy will be on stage to play for us and give demonstrations in how easy it can be to learn to play the guitar. Bring your guitar and play along.

The event is free and offers something for all ages. The Art House is at 17 College Street in Norcross, next to the Lionheart Theatre Company and steps from Lillian Webb Park. For more information, call 770-885-0425.
