Norcross Haunted History Walks Begin Friday
After guiding a VIP tour last Saturday evening, the spooky tour is now open to the public!
Guests were guided Saturday night by the city's old shovel dragging grave digger who can recall many of the lives and deaths of those "Souls of Norcross" he has interrred in the cemetery that sits on the hill across Buford Highway. The group both laughed and shivered as they heard the deathly tales only a dirty old timer can tell.
Baseball players Ivey Wingo and Roy Carlyle, mason and Norcross founding father Riley Owen Medlock, and music teacher Ida Wooten have spooky tales that only their tombstones and the bone collector can tell.
Haunted History Walks of Norcross is a guided tour that will depart from in front of the 45 South Cafe beginning at 7 p.m. and will depart every hour or so to accomodate guests. The ticket booth will open at 6 p.m. each Friday and Saturday evening for the next two weekends and again on Monday the 29th and Tuesday the 30th. Walks up are welcome to look for the decorated ticket booth that will be on the north side of the coffee house storefront. Prices for tickets are $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 16 and under. Babes in strollers and dogs who promise to keep their owners on a leash are FREE!

Family friendly, nothing jumps out and no blood drips from the walls, these tales focus on true history mixed with a bit of the paranormal.
Author and historian Sally Toole lifts these stories from the pages of three books on Norcross, including "Souls of Norcross; A Railroad Town with an Afterlife," as well as "Norcross Then and Now" published by Arcadia Press and "Remembering Norcross: Nuggets of Nostalgia," published by The History Press, as well as her many columns posted here on Norcross Patch.

Local ghost hunter Will Aymerich will accompany many of the tours and he will have his gadgets buzzzing with emerging evidence. The paranormal team he leads has been stirring up the spooks of Norcross for over five years now and the spirit boxes and ghost meters are sure to send a shiver up the spines of guests curious about that aspect of Halloween fun.
